CAMPBELL COUNTY
CONSERVATION DISTRICT
MISSION STATEMENT:
To
provide leadership for the conservation of Wyoming's soils and water,
protect the agriculture resource base, promote the control of soil
erosion, promote and protect the quality and quantity of Wyoming's water
and all other natural resources, preserve and enhance wildlife habitat,
protect the tax base and promote the health, safety, and general welfare
of the citizens of this state through a "responsible conservation ethic".
WHAT IS A
CONSERVATION DISTRICT?
Conservation
Districts (CDs) are political subdivisions of state government, through
the Wyoming Department of Agriculture. There are 15 pages of state
statutes that make conservation districts what they are today. Most of
these statutes have been in place since the dust bowl days of the late
1930’s. The Campbell County Conservation District (formerly Intermountain
Conservation District) was officially established April 19, 1950.
The Campbell County
Conservation District is preparing this document to identity our
long-range goals and objectives for the next five (5) years to meet and
plan for future conservation developments ion land use planning, multiple
use and conservation needs.
The District
recognizes natural resources as the basis for all human existence and that
these resources must be used wisely if they are to benefit all the people
to their best advantage while allowing for multiple land use concept.
The Campbell County
Conservation District Board will focus its efforts on all phases of sound
conservation planning and will update this plan when needed. It is hoped,
that through publication of this document that a greater public awareness
of the Conservation District, education of the natural resources, District
projects, and assistance available will be achieved.
