
Stormwater Strategic Plan
PURPOSE AND SCOPE
This Stormwater Strategic Plan
is the first phase of a study authorized by the City of Gillette in
an agreement dated January 20, 2009 (Project No. 08EN75). The mainstudy area consists of the
area within the Citylimits; however, the ultimate planning boundary extends 11/2 miles outside
the current Citylimits.
The Phase 1 – Strategic Plan scopeof work is to form the framework of the overallstormwater
master planning project. Phase 1 work elements include:
• Identifying federal, state, and local stormwater policies and regulations that affect the
City.
• Reviewing the City’s GIS database and recommending additional elements to be
incorporated.
•
Developing a Stormwater Ordinance outline and framework.
• Evaluating the City’s organizational structure and recommending changes to manage the
stormwater program more effectively, including the feasibility of a Stormwater Utility,
and other institutional/organizationalelements.
• This report documents the results of the research and evaluations, and provides
recommendations for development of the City’s Stormwater Management program.
CCCD
is a member of the Stormwater Advisory Committee.

Storm Drain Marking Program
We are proud to announce approximately 1300 markers
have been placed on the storm drains that flow into Gillette
Fishing Lake! Crystal Kellebrew, CCCD and Mattie Hepp, Earth Team
volunteer were responsible for placing 900. Jake Staples and Boy
Scout Troop 51 placed 400.
Thank
you to the City of Gillette for purchasing the storm drain
stickers and to the volunteers who made this possible. Our plans
are to continue to work with the City and place stickers in the
newly developed areas and also on South Douglas Highway after the
construction is complete.
